Who is ready to help make a difference at Shelbyville Middle School?

Are you tired of reading about all the bullying, drug use, or how the students feel helpless? Do our students deserve a safe space to learn?

I understand how it feels when your student is the target of bullying or when you feel like nothing is being done. You’re not alone in all of this. The Shelbyville Middle School FCA is focused on changing the culture at SMS, one student at a time.

For the past two years, SMS FCA has intentionally transformed the SMS culture by changing lives. We have transformed students' lives through our Student Leader program, weekly leadership meetings, bible studies, and weekly Friday morning Huddle. If we want the culture of SMS to change, it must start with the student body.

When asked if they felt FCA is making a difference at SMS, parents answered:

• “[FCA] gives students something positive to look forward to every week and encourages them to be young disciples throughout the building. Encouraging them to be role models for others.” – SMS Parent.
• “Yes! These kids may not have a great home life. FCA gives them the peach and love that some may not get any other time or place.” – SMS Parent
• “Absolutely. As a youth leader at my church, the time we have with students is very little. FCA is a strong program that adds to that time.” – SMS Parent

SMS Staff members are witnessing how FCA is impacting the student body as well:

• “I am continually impressed by FCA’s positive influence on students. I hear references to FCA from students of all demographics throughout the day.” – SMS Teacher.
• “FCA has impacted SMS in many ways! The most being the change in the lives of the children who attend! They feel loved by Jesus and Warren! FCA is all about glorifying God, and that is seen when the children who attend show love to others in our school.”  – SMS Counselor
