It’s almost here!

•  “Dear Fred” is always better than “Dear Friend”.
• Write it like you’re writing a friend; use “I, we, they, you”
• Describe how supporting you in going to camp will make your readers feel good.
  • People help because they want to experience good feelings about their giving.

 Include photos in your letter so people can visualize how their support will be used.

• Offering people the ability to pay online is a good way to attract donations.
• Have your parents set up an ApplePay and/or Venmo account and include that info in your letter.
  • Use QR codes as well
• Tell them you can stop by and pick up a check to make it easier (this is always a great way as it allows you to visit with them and make them feel appreciated.

Subject line (if it's an email): [Keep it short and avoid CAPS and exclamations]:

Hi [insert name],

I wanted to reach out and let you know that I’m fundraising to go to the FCA Leadership Camp this summer. As you probably already know, being a leader for FCA is very important to me. 

[Write 1-2 more sentences about your history with this cause and why it means so much to you.] 

• If you went to camp last year.
  • (How did going last year help you become a better leader, and how did it grow your faith.)
• Let them know how excited you are to go and why. 
  • “I am thrilled to attend Leadership Camp, where I can strengthen my faith, acquire new leadership skills, and discover ways to share my beliefs with others.”
